This setup provides the most consistent balance of recoil control, ranged flexibility, vertical pressure, and self-sufficiency for ranked play.

Expert recommendation

Written and reviewed by hand for this patch. This is an opinion, not a win-rate measurement.

Why it works

The C8-SFW gives Buck flexible close- and medium-range pressure while preserving his ability to quickly transition between vertical play and gunfights. The Flash Hider keeps the vertical climb manageable through a full magazine, which matters because Buck often fires immediately after opening a floor rather than from a settled position, and the laser sharpens hip-fire for the instant it takes to clear the room after opening a line. The MK1 9mm backs it up with Muzzle Brake and the laser attachment for the same close-range consistency.

Who it is best for

Players who want one Buck setup that works on every map: opening vertical lines, then clearing through them immediately rather than settling in behind cover. Stun Grenades disorient anyone waiting on the other side of the line you just opened, so you are not walking into a set defender alone.

One common mistake

Do not choose attachments solely for theoretical damage. A setup that improves consistency usually creates more value across an entire match.

Situational alternatives

When the recommended Buck setup is not the right call.

Consistent setup

Primary
C8-SFW changed to CAMRS
Sight
Magnified A changed to Telescopic B
Barrel
Flash Hider changed to Muzzle Brake

Use the CAMRS when playing longer angles and when the team does not need Buck to take frequent close-range engagements. The extra zoom and per-shot accuracy turn open sightlines into a real advantage.

Tradeoff: You give up almost all close-quarters forgiveness. A missed first shot in a hallway fight is usually fatal.

Aggressive setup

Sight
Magnified A changed to Red Dot A
Barrel
Flash Hider changed to Compensator
Grip
Vertical Grip changed to Angled Grip

Drop the magnification and speed up the aim-down-sights when you are entering first and fighting inside rooms rather than across them.

Tradeoff: Medium-range trades get noticeably harder, and the Compensator only helps if you already control the vertical climb yourself.

Utility-focused setup

Gadget
Stun Grenade changed to Claymore

Swap Stun Grenades for a Claymore when you are anchoring above or below a site alone for a long stretch of the round and want your flank covered instead of clearing a room.

Tradeoff: You lose the ability to disorient anyone waiting on the other side of the line you just opened.

These do not all agree, and that is fine. Community percentages describe what players prefer, not what wins more rounds. A popular pick is not wrong, and the expert pick may simply be tuned for a situation most players do not play.
